Appalachian Horror by Bo Chappell6/30/2023 ![]() ![]() A brilliant book I urge you to read at once. It's based around four old friends hiking in the Swedish forests where they ultimately get lost and find themselves becoming hunted. Whilst reading this, I was really reminded of The Ritual by Adam Nevill. This anthology is comprised of 8 tales with a lot of recognisable names from the indie horror scene. A perfect setting for horror to take place. The area has long been a source of myths and legends which have been passed down the generations from the early settlers. It's home to Bigfoot, eerie lights, moon-eyed people, witches, monsters and many many ghosts. ![]() It's famed for the Appalachian trail which people hike across. For those of you who don't know, Appalachia is a region stretching from New York to Georgia. ![]() Appalachian Horror from Bo Chapell and Aphotic which followed next had a lot to live up to.Īppalachian Horror is themed around well, Appalachian Horror. I'd just finished with Crystal Lake's Welcome to the Show, themed around a legendary music venue in San Francisco which blew me away. I just love reading horror anthologies, especially themed ones. ![]()

Indian Summer by Dellani Oakes6/30/2023 ![]() I hate small talk, but will chatter about books and writing for hours on end-just try and stop me! Finding that a useful tendency, I decided to venture into the world of internet broadcasts on Blog Talk Radio. In other words, I can speak to a large group of like minded people (chiefly authors) but put me in a crowd where I have nothing in common with them, I’ll clam up. I’m an introvert with extrovert tendencies. ![]() I’m not as sprightly as I was twenty years ago. With a skill set like that, I can do amazing things-but please don’t ask me to leap tall buildings at a single bound. I’m now an author and substitute teacher. English teacher, costume designer, photographer & stringer for a newspaper and Mary Kay consultant. ![]() Who am I? A crazy sister, lunatic aunt, loving mother and adoring spouse. ![]()

The dark knight returns book6/30/2023 ![]() ![]() One of the earlier versions featured a crouched Batman on a power line, which was later used as the cover for the 2015 collection, Batman Noir: The Dark Knight Returns. It's just a fun challenge." However, the iconic image was not the original one that Miller had in mind. I love doing covers, and I love conjuring iconic imagery. "That was a real favorite of mine," Miller said about the cover. It features a silhouette of Batman in the sky with lightning striking behind him. Miller worked on the cover with Lynn Varley. ![]() Heritage Auctions has announced that the original cover for Book One of writer/artist Frank Miller's iconic 1986 series The Dark Knight Returns will be for sale in Heritage Auctions' June 16-19 Comics & Comic Art Signature Auction. Lore olympus 20226/30/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() This edition of Smythe’s original Eisner-winning webcomic Lore Olympus brings Greek mythology into the modern age in a sharply perceptive and romantic graphic novel. ![]() As the pair are drawn ever closer, they must untangle the twisted webs of their past and present to build toward a new future. Hades is also off-balance, fighting against his burgeoning feelings for the young goddess of spring while maintaining his lonely rule of the Underworld. However, she quickly discovered the dark side of her glamorous new home-from the relatively minor gossip threatening her reputation to a realm-shattering violation of her safety by the conceited Apollo-and she’s struggling to find her footing in the fast-moving realm of the gods. Persephone was ready to start a new life when she left the mortal realm for Olympus. This dazzling interpretation of the classic Greek myths is as charming as it is provocative.”-Marissa Meyer, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Lunar Chronicles “It’s easy to see why the internet has fallen in love with Lore Olympus. Witness what the gods do after dark in the second volume of a stylish and contemporary reimagining of one of the best-known stories in Greek mythology, featuring a brand-new, exclusive short story from creator Rachel Smythe. ![]()

![]() I thought Naomi and Knox had good chemistry, and they had lots of hot times in and out of bed □ + So many tropes are in this story – grumpy guy/sunshine girl, small town romance, fake dating and then some. I decided to read my first Lucy Score book because I kept seeing it on Kindle Unlimited and I can see why it’s very popular. ![]() And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.Īt least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.Ĭontent Warning: abuse, single parent, parental abandonment ![]() But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon. ![]() Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. ![]()

The night tiger6/28/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() This requires some dreadful strength to tear it. Blake’s mystical symbolism is perceived in the expression ‘the forest of the night, that stands for the gloom of evils and wrongs. This is a simple song of childhood but bears a deeper note underneath its plain surface. In the child’s simple belief, the Creator must be possessed of the immense power of hands and vision to make such a balanced, majestic, and awful creature. The child also wonders at the physical strength and the penetrative vision of the Creator of that ferocious animal, that had a stout and dreadful structure. The child knows that the tiger lives in the dark, dense forest and imagines quite naturally how its brightly burning look pierces through the deep darkness of the forest. He goes on to describe how dreadful it looks with its eyes that are sparkling powerfully. The child speaks of the tiger that causes wonder and terror to him. Blake’s child wonders here at the creation of the tiger, a fierce and violent creature, and its mysterious and mighty Creator. It is actually a repetition of the opening stanza. This forms the concluding stanza of William Blake’s poem The Tyger. ![]()
